My client, a well renowned trusted partner in providing strategic leadership and operational capacity for over 200 companies globally are looking for a CFO or Financial Controller to join their small team in Reading. Their clients include 20 of the leading pharmaceutical and smaller biopharma companies globally.

The role is paying between 75k – 90k depending on experience.

With offices in Africa, America and Europe, The Financial Controller will be responsible for the financial management of the business;

  • overseeing the day-to-day activities of the small finance team and ensuring that the finance function is organised and efficient.
  • The role provides financial strategy input and general support to the Management Team and Partners, and also to other operational departments through reporting and overseeing the operation of financial controls.
  • Reporting directly to the Managing Partner of the business.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Mangagement of the finance function and overseeing the finance team incl. training and development for finance staff
  • Preparations of budgets, forecasts and cash flows
  • Maintenance of appropriate financial systems and accounting processes, including project financial management and accounting systems
  • Timely production of statutory and internal financial reports
  • Timely completion of monthly management accounts
  • Financial forecasting, modelling and analysis
  • Ensuring that appropriate system, process, procedures, internal controls and financial governance are implemented and maintained
  • Overseeing the payroll process including drawings and prior shared for Partner
  • Preparation of Board financial pack
  • Reporting, monitoring and analysis of profit and cash flow
  • Global banking including invoicing, accounting and reporting
  • Coordinating year-end timetable, reviewing Statutory Accounts and liaising with external accountants
  • Authorising bank payments
  • An input to Project quotations
  • High level of IT literacy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) with previous financial control and management reporting experience and a track record of successful financial management
  • Commercial experience and expertise
  • The candidate should be confident, a self-starter, a good team player, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment
  • Computer literate with good excel skills
  • Solid understanding of core business processes and accounting software (Sage 50)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Flexible attitude towards working individually and part of a dynamic team
